- Gusto hailed Maresca
- Aimed dig at former coach Pochettino
- Chelsea face PSG on Sunday in Club كأس العالم final
Gusto regularly featured in the Blues’ starting lineup under Maresca in the 2024-25 campaign and was an integral member of the squad that won the Europa Conference League. In the Club World Cup in the US, the Frenchman appeared in all of Chelsea’s matches and is now all set to feature in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The full-back credited the Chelsea boss for guiding them to the final of yet another competition, while taking a veiled dig at the ex-Blues manager as he told reporters: “It’s a bit different than last season for sure, in terms of details and the way we play, it’s much more about tactics, I would say. He’s a top coach; that’s why we are in the final—it’s because of him.”
Despite being a regular starter at Stamford Bridge, BILD reported last week that the player could exit the club this summer as Bayern Munich have reportedly shown interest in the 22-year-old. The German giants, though, are yet to approach the English side with a formal offer.
Chelsea will be back in action this Sunday as they take on reigning Champions League winners PSG in the Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
