- Parkinson confirms Eriksen interest
- Wrexham linked with ex-Man Utd star
- Internal club talks yet to progress
Asked by BBC Sport Wales about the club’s interest in Eriksen, Parkinson spoke honestly about the situation, confirming that Wrexham have held internal talks about pursuing the 33-year-old Denmark international, a free agent since his Manchester متحد contract expired in June.
Although Wrexham fans might have been hoping for a big marquee signing like Eriksen, who played 310 الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز games for Tottenham, Brentford and مانشستر يونايتد between 2013 and 2025, Parkinson noted that interest from the club has not yet “gone further”.
“There was a call, a bit of dialogue over the summer, but it’s not gone any further than that,” Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales. “But obviously he’s a majorly talented player and very well respected throughout football.
“We’ve been linked with so many players and if we’d been speaking to every player we’ve been linked with, I don’t think we’d have had an hour to sleep over the last month. Some are true, some aren’t. But we’re just going about our business and trying to get a squad which can represent the club in this division this season.”
After three successive promotions from the National League through to the Championship in the shortest time possible, Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will be hoping that the club’s time in the second tier will be just as brief. But the Championship promises to be the toughest test yet, facing the highest jump between leagues that the Red Dragons have faced on this journey. The opening game of the 2025-26 season against Southampton on August 9, newly relegated from the Premier League, will be an immediate indicator as to their level.
