- Callender reportedly not consulted during the transfer process
- Former Goalkeeper of the Year finalist joins Charlotte after Miami
- Transfer represents significant addition to Charlotte’s goalkeeping corps
نادي شارلوت لكرة القدم have reportedly secured a deal to acquire goalkeeper Drake Callender from انتر Miami CF. According to Tom Bogert, the MLS side has added the established shot-stopper to their roster in a move that strengthens their goalkeeping department. Per the report, Callender was surprised by his destination, having not been consulted during the negotiation process between the two clubs.
Charlotte already boast reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Kristijan Kahlina, who is under contract through 2026 with a club option for 2027. Still, the team saw the move as a chance to further bolster its depth in net. However, it leaves Callender in a similar position to where he was in Miami – fighting for minutes.
Callender has been called up by the U.S. men’s وطني team in 2023, but has yet to make an appearance for the Americans.
Callender will now reportedly join Charlotte FC’s squad as they continue their current MLS campaign, integrating into his new club environment after the unexpected transfer.
