- James sends bullish message to PSG
- Colwill claimed Chelsea won’t surrender like ريال مدريد
- Luis Enrique cautious ahead of CWC final
PSG have been the most dominant side in Europe in the 2024-25 campaign. They won every trophy they participated in this season and displayed a dominant show in the Champions League final against Inter as they thrashed the Italian side 5-0. Luis Enrique’s side has continued their dream run in the Club كأس العالم as they scored eight goals in their quarter-final and semi-final clashes against Inter Miami and Real Madrid.

Despite PSG’s fiery form, Blues captain James remained confident of their abilities as he told reporters: “To be honest, I don’t care that everyone is bigging up our opposition. We’re preparing right and we’re going there to win. I’ve been in many finals before where we were favourites and we didn’t come out on top.
“PSG are amazing and we’re expecting a tough game, but we also have an amazing team and we’re going to surprise a lot of people. I’m sure the analyst team we have will be looking at the games where PSG haven’t done so well, and we’ll try and adapt to that.”
Fellow Chelsea defender Levi Colwill sounded even more confident ahead of the final as he added: “They are an amazing team – but we are not Inter or Real Madrid. They were really good. But Real Madrid are very different to us. They don’t press like us or play like us. [PSG] can’t expect us to give them the same game. We’re going to bring different things. We’re different players.
“Most people around the world would expect PSG to win but we don’t think that in this camp. I remember the first time in this tournament when I did media I said that we’re winners – and we’ve made it this far. That shows I’m not lying. The players have got a really top mentality and we’re really excited going into this final. It’s where we belong to be. We’re confident in ourselves to win the game.”
While the Chelsea players issued warnings to their opponent, Enrique remained cautious of the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز club’s physical abilities as he said: “Chelsea is a team similar to us. It will be a tight match against a very physically strong team.”
Chelsea would aim to end the 2024-25 campaign on a memorable note by adding a second title to their trophy cabinet after the Europa Conference League triumph as they face PSG in the Club World Cup final on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
