- Lopez confirmed he won’t leave Barca
- Rejected transfer offers from الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز clubs
- Man Utd and تشيلسي wanted the midfielder
Lopez contributed with a brace on Sunday as برشلونة demolished Cesc Fabregas’ كومو 5-0 to win the Joan Gamper Trophy. Another Blaugrana sensation Lamine Yamal contributed with a couple of goals, while last season’s hero رافينيا scored a fifth.
Earlier in the summer, Lopez had attracted interest from English giants Chelsea and متحد. While the Red Devils were ready to offer £61 million ($70m) to lure the midfielder away from Camp Nou, the Blues were willing to splash £65m ($87m). Amid speculation suggesting the إسبانيا international could leave the club, the 22-year-old has provided an update on his future.
Speaking to reporters after the Como clash, Lopez said: “Barcelona fans should rest, because I will stay here…I will not leave Barca. It was a game about building confidence, ready for the start of La Liga. The important thing is the team did a very good job.”
Lopez had the spotlight on him recently after posting a cryptic message on social media seemingly directed at Ter Stegen, who has been embroiled in a dispute with Barcelona that he now says has been resolved. Lopez wrote on Instagram: “Bad people never win, nor those who look the other way, nor those who make betrayal their way of life and cowardice their banner. It’s only a matter of time.”
However, he later clarified: “Marc is the first captain, we respect him a lot, what has happened are external things.”
Hansi Flick’s side are all set to kick off their title defence on Saturday when they take on مايوركا away from home.
