are in negotiations with Spanish club Elche over a season-long loan for left-back Malacia. According to a report from Dutch publication Voetbal International the Spanish side have made an official approach and the 26-year-old defender is eager to make the move in search of regular first-team football.

Malacia has attracted interest from several clubs this summer, with Roma, Besiktas, Porto and all making enquiries that did not materialise. A proposed double-deal to Roma, which also included Jadon Sancho, fell through after both players initially rejected the switch. Elche have now moved into pole position after impressing Malacia with their proposal and the promise of consistent playing time.

Malacia has played just 696 minutes across 12 games since 2023 — and now Elche are pushing to land him on loan as Ruben Amorim looks to trim his squad. The international joined from in 2022 but missed the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign through injury before making his return in November. He was loaned to PSV for the second half of last season but made just eight appearances, three of which were as a starter.

With the end of the transfer window approaching, talks between United and Elche are expected to progress quickly. Should an agreement be reached, Malacia will join the Spanish side on loan for the 2025-26 season. The move is seen as a crucial step for the left-back to regain match fitness and form after his long-term injury absence.
