After missing out on the Spanish coach, Spurs eventually appointed Ange Postecoglou as Antonio Conte's permanent replacement. The Australian coach guided the team to Europa League glory, but lost his job soon after that victory.

was without a job since December 2022 after the Spanish team were knocked out of that year’s by Morocco in the round of 16. Six months later, he accepted the head coach role at PSG, where he finally found success in his second season, as he bagged the treble for the second time in his coaching career, including the club’s maiden title.

At the time Enrique opted to join the French giants, Tottenham were looking for a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte and they eventually appointed former boss Ange Postecoglou as their new manager. The Australian won the Europa League in his second season but was sacked regardless and replaced by Thomas Frank.

Ahead of PSG’s clash against Spurs on Wednesday, Enrique claimed that he was approached by the side. Speaking to reporters, Enrique said: “There were some options in the last six months before I came to Paris and Tottenham was one of them.”

After formally kick-starting the new season in the UEFA Super Cup in the midweek, the reigning French champions will play their first game on August 17 as they face Nantes.
