While uploading a gallery of photos surrounding Noni Madueke’s confirmed transfer to the club, Arsenal included one of Mosquera appearing to be interviewed by the media team while wearing Gunners training gear. The mistake was quickly spotted and taken down, but it was too late as fans noticed the picture and its apparent confirmation of Mosquera’s imminent arrival from Valencia.

Mosquera may not be Arsenal’s biggest signing of the summer but he is an astute purchase nevertheless, a 21-year-old Spanish youth international who has stood out in La Liga for two seasons now. With both William Saliba and injured at various points in recent years, the signing of Mosquera adds significant depth to the Gunners’ backline. He has already spoken of his mixed feelings in leaving Valencia behind.

Mosquera did not begin his sporting life in football. He was firstly a basketball player and then a futsal player in his youth before eventually deciding on football and joining SCD Carolinas, Hercules and then eventually Valencia.

With Mosquera’s signing effectively confirmed already, Arsenal would be smart not to waste any time in officially announcing the young defender. The player will likely join up with his new teammates for their pre-season tour of Asia, while the club will continue working on finalising a deal for top target Viktor Gyokeres.
