- Barca eyeing teenager
- Make enquiry to Flamengo
- Brazilian club don’t need to sell
Per Globo, Barca and Ajax have both made enquiries for Flamengo teenager Ryan Roberto. The 17-year-old has yet to make his first-team debut for the club, but he is a right-footed left winger who consistently cuts inside. He did make four appearances in the Copinha, an Under-20 tournament in البرازيل, and scored once.
Flamengo are one of the richest clubs in Brazil and, thus, are under no pressure to move such a promising talent on this summer. Roberto moved from Athletico Paranaense in 2023 but still has 50% of his rights. Flamengo can pay €1.5 million (£1m/$2m) to buy another 20% but haven’t exercised that option yet.
Roberto has also played for Brazil’s Under-17 side but it appears likely that his development will continue in his native country. Now that he is on Barcelona‘s radar, though, he will likely remain there until he becomes a first-team regular.
Barcelona have only added goalkeeper Joan Garcia to their squad thus far this summer. They play Vissel Kobe in a pre-season friendly in Japan on July 27.
