Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has requested that the club resolve Alexander Isak's situation soon, while backing fans' right to boo the wantaway striker. The Magpies fans were heard hurling an X-rated chant at Isak at Villa Park at full-time after the team's Premier League opener against Aston Villa. Isak is determined to move out of Newcastle this summer and sign for Liverpool.

As expected, Isak was left out of Newcastle’s matchday squad in their season opener against Aston Villa away from home on Saturday. Anthony Gordon started in the No.9 role at Villa Park as the Magpies were held to a goalless draw. Isak has communicated to the club his wish to leave them this summer, to sign for .

Addressing the striker’s transfer saga, head coach Howe told reporters after the game: “It’s a difficult one to answer. I hope it’s resolved quickly, because it’s news around us all the time. Players have managed to shut that out and perform. We have to continue to do that. We have to cope without the narrative against us.”

On facing Liverpool in their upcoming fixture, the English coach added: “It’s always spicy against Liverpool, there’s a history to the fixture. We look forward to it. We know how good they are.”

Newcastle fans, who have already turned against Isak, were heard hurling an X-rated chant at the Swedish forward at full time after Saturday’s clash at Villa Park. Howe later came to the supporters’ defence as he said: “Whatever happens (with Isak) our supporters acted really well today because they supported the team when we were playing. They’ve always done that unbelievably well. If they want to say something afterwards, they are free to do that.”

The Magpies have already identified a couple of replacements for Isak, as they eye moves for ‘s Goncalo Ramos and ‘s Yoane Wissa.
