- Tottenham eye Nice star Guessand
- Newcastle enter race for forward
- Spurs talks slow amid Gibbs-White drama
Africa Foot claims that Newcastle have made contact with the player’s entourage but are yet to get into ‘serious negotiations’ with Nice. The report adds that while Tottenham talks are ‘slowing down’, Villarreal is having regular conversations with the French outfit about the Ivory Coast international.
Guessand, who has also been linked with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, is reportedly set to leave Nice this summer but his next move remains uncertain. This comes at a time when Tottenham are trying and failing to sign Morgan Gibbs White, with Nottingham Forest refusing to sanction the England international’s move. Spurs could be in line for a summer of frustration in the transfer market.
The 6ft 2in Guessand, whose contract runs until 2028, has played 108 times for Nice’s first team, scoring 21 goals in the process. The versatile attacker, who can play up front and on the wings, scored 13 of those last season.
It remains to be seen which of Newcastle, Villarreal, Fenerbahce, and Tottenham – or any other team – can secure the services of Guessand in the coming weeks. Incidentally, his reputation has been steadily on the rise following loan spells at Lausanne-Sport and Nantes.
