Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to hijack Chelsea's move for Xavi Simons after missing out on signing Eberechi Eze, who joined their arch-rivals Arsenal. The Blues have been interested in Simons for quite some time now, while the Dutch international is also keen on moving to Stamford Bridge. However, with Chelsea also showing interest in Fermin Lopez, Spurs could swoop in and secure Simons' transfer.

وفق صحيفة التلغراف have held discussions over submitting a bid with to sign Simons this summer, despite the Dutch international being closely linked with a move to Chelsea. Spurs are desperate to add a new playmaker to their squad before the transfer window closes next Monday, after missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.

Simons wants to leave RB Leipzig this summer, with his preferred destination being Chelsea, however, the Blues will not be able to complete his signing unless they offload Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. For now, talks have stalled between the side and the Blues and Spurs want to take advantage of the situation and swoop in and secure a transfer for the 22-year-old.

Chelsea have also kept ‘s Fermin Lopez in their shortlist of a midfielder in case they miss out on Simons this summer. Spurs, on the other hand, want to first make sure about the Blues’ stance before they come up with a formal offer.
