Preseason is well underway across Europe, the summer transfer window is open, and the 2025-26 campaign is fast approaching – just weeks away for many clubs.
For several U.S. men’s national team players, time is ticking to lock in a summer move. For some, it’s the last chance to boost their chances of making Mauricio Pochettino’s 2026 World Cup squad. For others, it’s about leveling up.
Patrick Agyemang, the only American to feature in all 12 USMNT matches this year, has done both – sealing a move from Charlotte FC to Derby County this week. Fellow striker Josh Sargent, a key roster rival, is also in the spotlight, with Wolfsburg reportedly preparing a sizable bid to pry him from Norwich City.
The Bundesliga remains a focal point for Americans, especially at Borussia Dortmund. U.S. youth international Cole Campbell is reportedly being courted by two of BVB’s rivals, with a $7 million deal on the table. Meanwhile, Gio Reyna has reportedly greenlit a move to Italy, where American-owned Parma are rumored to have submitted a bid. A rumored return to MLS – specifically, LAFC – has been ruled out.
Then, there are still plenty of moves that are in the reported talking stages. Yunus Musah, Matt Turner, Diego Luna, Griffin Yow, and Tim Weah are all players who could be on the move this summer, and each has been linked with a potential transfer away from their current club.

Midfielder Reyna has been linked with a move to Serie A side Parma. Both Sky Sports’ Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano report that Reyna has greenlit a transfer to the club, and now, it’s up to Dortmund and the Italian club to come to an agreement over a permanent sale.
Parma’s offer for Reyna is reportedly $6.95 million, and they are offering him a three-year contract with an additional option year, along with a release clause of nearly $29 million included.
Parma is owned by American entrepreneur Kyle Krause of the Krause Group, and Reyna would be the first American to play for the Italian club.
A move to Serie A would see Reyna join the likes of Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Tim Weah, Weston McKennie, and Gianluca Busio as U.S. internationals playing in the Italian first division. Parma, meanwhile, finished 16th in the standings last campaign and has since hired former Arsenal assistant Carlos Cuesta as their new manager to lead them in the 2025-26 campaign. Cuesta, 29, is set to be the youngest head coach in Europe this coming campaign.
Additionally, Tom Bogert reports that despite rumors surfacing, MLS side Los Angeles FC is not a destination for Reyna this summer.
A U.S. youth international, Campbell broke out into the Borussia Dortmund senior team for the first time in the 2024-25 campaign, and was part of their traveling squad for the FIFA Club World Cup – though he didn’t feature in the competition.
He made four Bundesliga appearances, one substitute cameo in the UEFA Champions League, and appeared in one match in the DFB-Pokal for Dortmund across the 2024/25 campaign. With BVB II, who compete in the third tier of German football, Campbell made 11 domestic league appearances, scoring twice and recording one assist.
The 19-year-old winger is now reportedly wanted by Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt, with the two Bundesliga rivals to BVB vying for his signature. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, however, Stuttgart leads the race at the moment and is prepared to offer six million Euros for the permanent sale of the youngster.
Campbell, 19, is a dual-national with Iceland and the متحد States, but has opted to represent the Stars and Stripes at the youth level. Notably, in Spring 2024, he scored a brace in a 3-2 victory over England with the U17 national team.
In November, he told بالجم in an exclusive interview that U.S. Soccer “believes” in his abilities and that he is excited for what the future could bring for him on the international stage.

Agyemang, Mauricio Pochettino’s starting striker during the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, has officially signed for Derby County in the English Championship. The 24-year-old completed an $8 million transfer from Charlotte FC midweek, netting the MLS side a club-record fee at the same time.
He signed a four-year contract with the club through 2029, and is their fifth signing of the summer. However, his start to the campaign will be slightly delayed, as upon signing, there was an agreement that he would undergo a quick surgery to fix a hernia injury.
Since making his USMNT debut in January, the 24-year-old is the only player to feature in all 12 USMNT games this season, and during that span, scored five goals.
“It’s exciting,” Agyemang said. “I have been hearing good things about the club and the fans as well, and I always wanted to be a part of something specia,l and now to finally be here, it’s amazing. I’ve heard about [the move] once I was getting into the national team for the Gold Cup. And obviously, in the moment, you’re like, ‘That’s something I’m interested in!’ but you want to focus on what you’re doing.
“Then, as it starts to progress, you start to look more into it, and there is this project I’d love to be a part of. I just hoped for it to get across the line, and happily, it did.”
Sargent has been linked with a move from Norwich to the Bundesliga side, with Wolfsburg reportedly prepared to pay a transfer fee around $28 million for his services.
In the 2024-25 season for the Canaries Sargent scored 15 goals across 32 games, where he was the fourth-highest goalscorer in the Championship. Since signing for the club from Werder Bremen in Germany in 2021, he’s bagged 48 goals across 133 games in four seasons with the club. Internationally, Sargent has made 26 appearances for the USMNT, scoring five times and recording one assist. However, his last goal on the international stage was in 2019.
He was not included on the CONCACAF Gold Cup roster this summer, with Pochettino claiming his exclusion was due to “football reasons.”
Wolfsburg finished 12th in the Bundesliga last season, and they will not be playing European football this coming campaign. They are managed by Paul Simonis, who joins the club this summer after leading Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles to a Dutch Cup title.
Sargent previously played in the Bundesliga as a teenager, where he made 70 appearances, scoring 11 goals and notching six assists.
