- Scored an overhead kick against Burnley
- Spurs thrashed Burnley 3-0
Richarlison’s brace helped Tottenham Hotspur kick off the new season with a dominant 3-0 win over newly promoted Burnley on Saturday at home. The Brazil star opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before doubling his team’s lead around the hour mark. New Spurs signing Mohammed Kudus sent an inch-perfect inside the penalty box and the Brazilian found the back of the net with a brilliant overhead kick. The strike was very similar to how Richarlison scored against Serbia in the 2022 World Cup.
As Richarlison inspired a stunning start to Spurs’ new season, fans hailed the Selecao forward’s brilliance and some of them even compared the striker to the legendary forward Ronaldo.
Jaco wrote on X: “I’m sorry for the ones that can’t see how good Richarlison is. In the box he’s an absolute animal, that’s where you want him. Finally we have a manager that fully understood how to use him. I’m emotional.”
A fan handle named Hotspur Related posted: “#thfc forward Richarlison scores a stunner for his second. This might be the best version of him we’ve seen? Only other shout being that run under Ange Postecoglou in February 2024.”
Luiz F. wrote: “Always said he’s much better than Solanke if fit.”
Prem Inside posted on X: “An injury-free Richarlison is going to be DANGEROUS this season.”
A fan named Kai shared a video of Ronaldo during his peak playing days and compared Richarlison to the Brazil icon: “Richarlison whenever its a World Cup year.”
Spurs are closing in on signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, as they look to beat arch-rivals Arsenal in the race to secure a transfer for the England international. Eze has reportedly shown a strong interest in joining the North London club this summer, after agreeing on personal terms.
Thomas Frank’s side will be next seen in action on August 23 as they travel to Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City in the Premier League.
