- Barcelona consider taking back captain’s armband from Ter Stegen
- Ter Stegen’s public announcement of injury irked management
- Barca return to training on Thursday
Ter Stegen’s recent actions have left Barcelona officials fuming as president Joan Laporta, along with sporting director Deco, are considering taking the captain’s armband back from the goalkeeper, according to Mundo Deportivo. The German custodian was named club captain only last year after Sergi Roberto left as a free agent.
The Spanish champions are yet to make a final call on the captaincy decision, however, as Laporta and Deco plan to meet manager Hansi Flick to discuss the situation before taking any action. Barcelona’s players will resume training after a small break that followed their return from a pre-season tour of Asia.u0026nbsp;
Ter Stegen’s public announcement that he was sidelined for three months particularly irked the club management as had he remained out of action for four months, the club would have been allowed to use 80 per cent of his salary to register another player, namely fellow keeper and new signing Joan Garcia, who joined the club this summer from rivals Espanyol.
After a successful tour of Asia, where the Blaugrana won all of their pre-season friendly matches, the club will now take on Cesc Fabregas’ Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday.u0026nbsp;
