Benni McCarthy’s Harambee Stars managed a 1-1 draw against Angola in their second Group A (CHAN) game played on Thursday at the Moi International Stadium.

Angola scored the opening goal in the seventh minute before Jó Paciência found the back of the net.

Kenya grabbed an equaliser four minutes later when Austin Odhiambo scored from the spot after the hosts won a penalty. This is Odhiambo’s second goal of the game after scoring against DR Congo in the Harambee Stars CHAN opening game.

Kenya were reduced to 10 men when Marvin Nabwire was red-carded in the 21st minute. The Kenya Police star had been yellow-carded initially, but after a VAR review, he was sent off.

Kenya survived a late scare; Kaporal scored for Angola in the 96th minute, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for offside.

Kenya now top Group A with four points, followed by Morocco in second courtesy of a superior goal difference against DR Congo, while Angola are fourth.

Winless sit at the bottom.

Harambee Stars will face Morocco in their next game on August 10 before playing Zambia on August 17.
