Sheffield have had a nightmare start to their 2025-26 Championship campaign as they have lost all of their first five matches, with the most recent defeat coming against Ipswich Town on Saturday as they went down 5-0. Following the humiliating loss, the Blades announced the departure of head coach Ruben Selles, just months after his appointment.
According to The Guardian Wilder is poised to return to Bramall Lane for a third stint just three months after his latest sacking from the club. Sheffield parted ways with Wilder at the end of the 2024-25 season as the 57-year-old manager failed to guide the club back to the Premier League.
During Wilder’s departure in the summer, reports emerged that the manager had clashed with club owners over a shift in transfer strategy as they reportedly wanted to conduct an AI-led recruitment system. The idea so far has crashed, and thus, Wilder will be more empowered in his third term.
The Blades will be back in action on Saturday as they look to register their maiden win of the season against Charlton Athletic. Before the game, the club would aim to finalise their head coach.
