- Accused of making indecent video of child
- Due in court in Nottingham on Thursday
Coote was initially charged in August 2025 and bailed in relation to a video file discovered by police, as reported by the Nottingham Post. The disgraced former match official has been charged with making anindecent video of a child of category A in 2020. Category A is the most serious category and often shows young children being raped or sexually abused.
Nottinghamshire Police said in a statement: “A suspect is due to appear in court after being charged with making an indecent image of a child. David Coote, aged 43, has been charged with the offence after an investigation by Nottinghamshire Police. The charge relates to a video file recovered by officers in February of this year. Coote, of Collingham, was charged on 12 August and is currently on conditional police bail. He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow 11 September.”
Coote’s court hearing follows on from his sackingby the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) in December 2024 after videos emerged on social media showing him making derogatory comments about then-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and snorting white powder. He subsequently came out as gay and revealed his struggles with his sexuality and drug use. Coote was subsequently banned by UEFA and slapped with an FA charge for his comments about Klopp. He has since been filmed “trying to make an honest living” by delivering parcels for Evri.
Coote is now due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 11, for a first hearing.
