- Eze linked with Palace exit
- Glasner unable to confirm stay
- Arsenal among those interested
Eze has been linked with a Palace exit for a long time now, with Arsenal, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich all credited with interest in the attacking midfielder. With the Premier League season a week away, Eagles manager Glasner was unable to say if the 27-year-old will still be at the club after August.
When asked if England international Eze will still be a Palace player when the transfer window shuts in a few weeks, Glasner told reporters on Friday: “He will play on Sunday (against Liverpool in the Community Shield), definitely. Marc Guehi, too.”
Palace won the FA Cup in May but since then, they have endured a series of disappointments, most notably being demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League for allegedly breaching multi-club ownership rules. If they were to lose talisman Eze as well, that would be a bitter pill to swallow. Moreover, there is no certainty that team-mate Marc Guehi will stay at Selhurst Park, althoughno bids have been submitted for the pair so far.
It remains to be seen if anyone will bid for Eze in the final weeks of the transfer window, with the versatile attacker – who scored 14 goals and added 11 assists last season – said to have a £68 million ($91.5m) release clause that expires on August 15. In the meantime, Palace face Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, before kickstarting their Premier League season away at Chelsea on August 17.
