- Man Utd won’t print names of Cantona, Beckham or CR7
- Fans baffled with decision
- All three legends own their naming rights
United released their home and away shirts for the 2025-26 campaign earlier this month, and the fans were naturally excited to get their hands on the new kit. Simon Lloyd was among the supporters who visited the mega store to buy a new shirt, and noticed a policy sign displayed on a wall monitor, which read: “Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to print Cantona, Beckham, and Ronaldo.”

Manchester United later clarified the policy to The Sun confirming that three icons, Cantona, Beckham and Ronaldo own their image rights, which means the club cannot print their names on shirts at their mega store.
All three Old Trafford legends spent many memorable years at the club and won multiple accolades in glorious Sir Alex Ferguson era. Ronaldo even returned to the club in 2021, but his second stint was short-lived after he fell out with then-coach Erik ten Hag.
Ruben Amorim’s United are currently touring the U.S. for their pre-season preparations and will next face Bournemouth in a friendly match in Chicago on Thursday.
