- Bayern thrash Spurs 4-0
Despite Kane’s horrific penalty blunder, Bayern secured a thumping 4-0 win over the Spurs. The English forward broke the deadlock in the 12th minute before skying his spot-kick over the crossbar after losing his footing. Kingley Coman then doubled the Bavarian side’s lead, before Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare added two more goals to the team’s tally.
After the match, Kane opened up on his comical penalty miss as he expressed his delight that the game was just a pre-season friendly. The 32-year-old spent 19 years with Tottenham, rising up through the ranks into the senior team in 2009. The England captain played a total of 435 games for Spurs and scored 280 goals, a record for the Lilywhites.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Kane said: “I’m glad it happened in a friendly game. I slipped. As a footballer, sometimes things happen that you can’t control.”
Vincent Kompany’s side will play their final pre-season friendly against Grasshopper on August 12, before formally kicking off the 2025-26 campaign against Stuttgart in the German Super Cup on August 16.
