Sancho will look to revive his career under Unai Emery at Villa this season, with his contract set to expire next summer – though the club does still hold a one-year extension option. Former star turned pundit Carragher has now raised question marks over Sancho’s quality, claiming he does not offer any substantial value on the pitch.

Sancho has moved to the Midlands in a deal which will see Villa cover 80 per cent of his salary. The Villans had to balance Financial Fair Play restrictions through the summer, making this structured loan move a favourable deal for the team. However, an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer has not been included in the agreement.

The English winger will hope to play his first competitive game of the 2025-26 campaign and make his Aston Villa debut when they come up against in the on Saturday.
