- PSG have bid under €40m for Lille‘s Chevalier
- Donnarumma’s extension remains unresolved
- Chevalier’s transfer hinges on Lille finding replacement
PSG have taken concrete steps towards replacing Donnarumma, submitting an initial offer to Lille for Chevalier. According to L’Equipe PSG have already agreed personal terms with Chevalier, who enjoyed a standout 2024-25 campaign with 13 clean sheets in 48 appearances. Lille are holding out for at least €40 million (£35m/$47m) and want to secure a replacement before greenlighting the sale. Donnarumma, meanwhile, has yet to sign a contract extension with PSG and is out of contract in June 2026, despite delivering another strong season for the Ligue 1 and European champions.
PSG’s move comes as contract talks with Donnarumma have stalled over salary terms. The Italian international has rejected PSG’s latest offer of a reduced fixed wage and higher bonuses, compared to his current €10m-a-year deal. With no breakthrough in negotiations for months, the club are keen to avoid losing their No.1 on a free transfer next summer – mirroring the recent loss of Kylian Mbappe. Several top European clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Galatasaray, are monitoring Donnarumma’s situation closely.
If Donnarumma does not sign an extension or secure a transfer this summer, he will be eligible to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs beginning January 2026. PSG’s pursuit of Chevalier is part of a broader strategy to invest in high-potential French talent.
PSG look set to persist in their pursuit of Chevalier and are expected to return with an improved offer. Lille’s priority is to finalise a replacement before approving any move. For Donnarumma, unless he extends his stay, a transfer abroad appears possible this summer, with major clubs ready to move and PSG intent on avoiding a repeat of last year’s contract saga. Pre-season training continues as both parties prepare for decisive weeks ahead.
