The Croatian defender has been enjoying his holidays in a less conventional way than usual and was spotted dressed as a soldier in his homeland rather than relaxing on a beach after a gruelling campaign.

The ‘Commando Squad 9’ event saw the defender handed an airsoft gun and immersing himself in a virtual warzone, which saw him complete a realistic Special Forces mission designed to give him the ultimate physical and mental preparation ahead of his return to Manchester.

The holiday package – which takes place in Croatia – is said to cost upwards of £7,000, but spans over multiple days and prides itself in providing an authentic experience for participants.

After his adventures in the warzone, Gvardiol will return to and prepare for the new campaign. Pep Guardiola’s side are due back in training just a few weeks before the new season starts, due to their involvement in the Club .
