England, who have made a habit of scoring last-minute goals at this summer’s European Championship, will be aiming to defend their European title on Sunday as they take on reigning world champions Spain. This will be Sarina Wiegman’s fifth consecutive major final as a head coach, a unique feat that no manager has achieved in the history of men’s or women’s football.
Ahead of the all-important final, Prince William, who is also a patron of the FA, sent out a good luck wish to the Lionesses. According to The Mirror the Prince of Wales will be in attendance at St Jakob Park to cheer for the team in the Women’s Euro 2025 final.
On X, Prince William wrote: “Good luck to the Lionesses tomorrow. The nation is so proud you are through to the final, after some stunning comebacks! We are all cheering you on! W.”
The Lionesses will receive a total prize money of €5.1 million (£4.4m/$5.1m), should they beat Spain in the final on Sunday. It is the accumulation of performance bonuses and the €1.8m awarded to every nation that qualified for the tournament.
