Morata’s loan spell with Galatasaray recently came to a tumultuous end as AC Milan paid off the Turkish club to allow a transfer to Como to go through. The 32-year-old has played all around Europe during his career and is back in Italy with Como, linking up with former Spain and Chelsea team-mate Fabregas who is the manager.
Morata had a tough 2024-25 campaign but still managed a combined 13 club goals for Milan and Galatasaray, winning the Super Lig and Turkish Cup with the latter. He now has a new challenge to look forward to and Fabregas has revealed his tactical knowhow and interpersonal skills made him an attractive target.
Fabregas told Como’s website: “I’ve known Alvaro for many years and I’ve always admired the way he plays and the way he carries himself. He’s an intelligent striker who has delivered in the biggest moments and a team-mate who lifts everyone around him. We’re so happy to have him here at Como.”
Como were battered 5-0 by Barcelona in their final summer friendly and kick off their 2025-26 campaign in the Coppa Italia on Saturday against Serie B outfit Sudtirol, with Morata hopeful of making his club debut.
