Henry has hailed the squad depth at Arsenal following heavy investment during a busy summer. Arteta now has a stacked forward line to select from which even led Henry to forget about Gabriel Jesus when discussing his former club ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League win over Athletic Club.
Henry said on CBS Sports: “Right now, I will say that nobody has a team as deep as Arsenal in terms of the quality that they can have. Some teams can give them a good run for the starting XI, but if you look at the team itself, it’s almost two teams. When you see who is on the bench tonight, and you’re still missing Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka…”
Jamie Carragher was quick to point out that Henry had missed out Jesus, bringing the swift response: “And Jesus, yes (laughs), I even forgot.”
Arsenal’s strength in depth was highlighted against Athletic Club as Arteta was able to send on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard at San Mames. The substitutions proved key as both players scored to secure the 2-0 victory and make it a winning start in the Champions League for the Gunners.
Jesus suffered an ACL injury at the start of the year that required surgery and ruled him out for the long term. The Brazilian has been left out of Arsenal’s 2025-26 Champions League squad and is not expected to return to action until the end of the year.
Arsenal are set to return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Emirates in a blockbuster clash.
