Football General Manager
- Spurs triggered Gibbs-White’s release clause
- Forest attempting to keep the midfielder
- Has now linked up with team-mates
Gibbs-White has been at the centre of an ongoing transfer saga this summer; Tottenham triggered his £60 million ($81m) release clause, but Forest have since contemplated legal action after complaining the bid was as a result of an “illegal approach”. It remains unclear if they will be able to stop Gibbs-White from moving to north London, but he is now in Portugal for Forest’s pre-season, per The Athletic.
Forest will play Fulham and Estoril Praia in Portugal, and also played in their first pre-season friendly against Monaco. After that game, he was filmed waving to the Forest support, before making a heart gesture.
Gibbs-White has two years remaining on his contract and some reporting has suggested that Spurs could table a new bid for the 25-year-old, although it is unclear what kind of reaction that would elicit from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Gibbs-White will hope to have his future clarified soon, as will both Forest and Spurs. It remains to be seen if he will end up in the capital.
