Liverpool had one of the busiest summer transfer windows as they spent heavily on rebuilding their champion squad. They made some key additions to their attack and defence as players like Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have moved to Merseyside.

The new additions have clearly uplifted the standard of the squad as the Reds are off to a flying start in the 2025-26 campaign, winning their first three league matches of the season. After the club’s 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday, Slot provided an update on the club’s activities on deadline day, hinting they could still make a few more signings before the transfer window closes. Liverpool have been linked with moves for Isak and Guehi and their officials are expected to remain busy on Monday to get the deals done before the deadline.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutch coach said: “[I expect to be] quite busy, because I have to take a flight at 2 o’clock, to go home, to go back to Holland! But no, on a serious note, let’s wait and see. Again it was positive for me that I could bring a few good substitutes in. I haven’t spoken to Richard [Hughes] yet. I don’t think it’s a surprise that we are trying to see if we can strengthen the squad.

“But if that is not possible, we are more than happy to do it with this team, because this team has shown that they can compete. The only thing that we have to find out is if we are going to go to a programme with so many games – two a week or three a week, depends on how you want to see it – if that’s enough then as well. But again, like I said, very happy with the team we have and they showed it again today.”

Newcastle have reportedly agreed to sell Isak to Liverpool if the Reds manage to match their asking price of £130 million ($172.6m). The reigning English champions could yet agree to the Magpies’ demands to finally seal the striker’s move.
