According to The Athletic, Bayern are yet to submit a second bid for Diaz, after their first was rejected, but remain keen on a deal and are now in ‘regular dialogue’ with Liverpool over a switch. The champions are on the hunt for a versatile forward, and the 28-year-old is said to fit the bill.

Earlier this month, Liverpool – who have spent £265 million ($356m) this summer – turned down Bayern’s £58.6m ($78.8m) offer for the Colombian international – who has ‘made it clear he wants to leave’ the Anfield outfit. If the German giants return with an improved offer that is accepted, that could help towards their pursuit of Newcastle striker Isak.

In June, the former man said he was “happy” at Liverpool and was content to see out the rest of his contract, which expires in 2027. However, it seems the Colombian, who has trained with the first-team squad in Hong Kong this week, has since had a change of heart.

It remains to be seen if Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and has since scored 41 goals and added 23 assists in 148 appearances, will still be a Reds player when the transfer window shuts on September 1.
