- Mainoo’s future remains uncertain
- Wants to leave Man Utd for more game time
- Has attracted interest from Marseille and Napoli
According to The Daily Mail Mainoo remains determined to leave his boyhood club this summer as he is reportedly disillusioned and frustrated with his lack of game time under Amorim. After appearing for the first time in the 2025-26 campaign in the Carabao Cup second round fixture against Grimsby Town last week, Mainoo once again started on the bench during Saturday’s Premier League clash against Burnley.
Mainoo wants to secure a loan move away from Old Trafford before the summer transfer window shuts on Monday as he wants to play regularly and seal his place in the England squad for the World Cup in North America next year. The Red Devils, on the other hand, are firm on their stance that they won’t allow the midfielder to leave unless they find a suitable replacement.
Mainoo featured in the Burnley clash after Matheus Cunha suffered an injury. With Bruno Fernandes promoted as a No.10, the youngster took the captain’s position in central midfield. While the extent of Cunha’s injury remains unknown, it seemed like the Brazilian sustained a hamstring blow and could spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.
It remains to be seen if Amorim sanctions Mainoo’s exit after Cunha’s injury as it seems Fernandes will have to be deployed in a more attacking role going forward. The young midfielder has attracted interest from clubs like Marseille and Napoli.
