- City ready to offload Gundogan
- German midfielder eyeing return to Bundesliga
- 34-year-old was linked with Galatasaray
City boss Pep Guardiola wants a smaller squad and has complained about the size of the current contingent. According to Bild City are ready to offload some players, and the names include those of Manuel Akanji and Gundogan. The German midfielder, who was previously linked with Galatasaray, is now considering a return to the Bundesliga, where he once shone for Borussia Dortmund. However, no club has yet been linked with the midfielder.
Ever since joining City in 2016, he has played an integral role in their five Premier League-winning campaigns. However, the Champions League winner was left out of the matchday squad against Tottenham at the weekend, which may indicate a possible departure. His link with Galatasaray over the summer was strong, but the deal did not see daylight due to his high salary.
Gundogan, who has 19 goals in 82 appearances for Germany, has won 14 trophies at City. Those include five Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, four Carabao Cup titles, two FA Cups and two Community Shields.
With just six days left for the transfer window to come to a close, Gundogan will have to find himself a Bundesliga club soon.
