Football General Manager
- Hojlund underwhelmed at Man Utd
- Red Devils have sought a new striker
- Club makes big transfer decision
According to The Sun United have no more wriggle room for another big-money signing after spending more than £130 million ($175.6m) on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. As a result, the Red Devils look set to give Hojlund a ‘final chance’ to show he can lead the Old Trafford side’s attack.
Forwards Hojlund and Zirkzee scored just seven Premier League goals between them last season, prompting United fans to urge the club to sign a new potent number nine. Their reported attempts to sign Aston Villa‘s Ollie Watkins and Sporting CP‘s Viktor Gyokeres have come to nothing and now it seems they will have to rely on their big strikers up top next term.
The report adds that Hojlund, a £72 million ($97m) signing from Atalanta in 2023, will be given a chance to stake his claim for a starting spot next season during the Premier League Summer Series tournament in the United States in the coming week or so.
Hojlund and Zirkzee – who have both been linked with returns to Serie A – will hope to build some momentum ahead of next season when United take on Bournemouth, Everton and West Ham as part of the upcoming summer tournament.
