- Vardy joins Cremonese on a free
- Striker left Leicester after 13 years
- Cremonese have made flying Serie A start
Vardy has moved to the Italian side after leaving Leicester at the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season following the expiration of his contract. The 38-year-old’s departure brought his 13-year association with the Foxes to an end, having joined the club from Fleetwood Town in 2012.
Vardy became a Leicester legend after scoring 24 goals in 36 appearances as the East Midlands club completed one of the greatest sporting triumphs of all time by winning the 2015-16 Premier League title. He also lifted the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021.
Vardy, who scored seven goals in 26 caps for England between 2015 and 2018, will be hoping his experience can help Cremonese in their bid to avoid relegation back to Serie B in 2025-26. Davide Nicola’s side have made an excellent start to life in Serie A, winning their first two games against Milan and Sassuolo, following their promotion from the second tier in 2024-25.
Vardy could make his debut when Cremonese travel to Verona in their next league outing on September 15. Nicola’s men then play host to Parma on September 21, in what could be Vardy’s maiden appearance in front of his new supporters.
