- AC Milan may drop Gomez interest
- Liverpool need to sign Guehi first
- Milan to look into other options
Milan had agreed personal terms with Gomez but the Reds are reluctant to offload him before having a clear chance to on-board Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who has been in talks over a transfer to the Merseyside club this summer. However, Milan cannot wait for the Premier League side as the transfer window is set to close in a matter of hours and the Italian club highly doubt the deal could be pushed through in the limited time. Unless Palace agree to sell Guehi, Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Gomez will not be joining the San Siro side, with Sky claiming they have already given up.
The Serie A side had also been working on a swap deal with Roma, the club are seeking to swap Santiago Gimenez for Artem Dovbyk, but the former is refusing to move. The Italian club have also secured the signing of Adrien Rabiot in the midfield, bringing in more options to fill the gap left by Ardon Jashari. Gomez’s arrival would complete their transfer business but sporting director Igli Tare may have to find an emergency alternative in the final hours of the window.
Milan faced disappointment after failing to convince Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji to join them at San Siro. The player and the club couldn’t agree on personal terms as Akanji was looking for a team that competes in the Champions League. Tottenham and Galatasaray were also interested but Akanji has reportedly declined to join them as well. Now, appear to have sealed his signing.
The seven-time Champions League winners have signed Wolfsburg young talented defender David Odogu. The 19-year-old has reportedly flown to Milan to complete his medical. Tare, though, will still be looking to sign an experienced defender with Chelsea‘s Axel Disasi and Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen on his shortlist.
