- Liverpool desperate to sign Isak
- Days of transfer window left
- Club plots mammoth double swoop
The club’s pursuit of Isak has dragged on all summer, with Newcastle repeatedly holding out for more cash (they value the Swede at a whopping £150m). Now, with just days left of the window, Liverpool are ramping up their efforts to get a deal over the line, while also growing increasingly confident that they can snatch Guehi from Palace too, according tothe Mirror.
Whether Newcastle let Isak go this summer largely depends on whether they’re able to complete the signing of Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who impressed last season and is proving to be tricky to prise away from the West Midlands club. The Magpies recently had a £55m bid knocked back, but if they can get up their bid and convince Wolves to part with Strand Larsen, it could open up room for Isak to jump ship.
Regardless of whether or not they can get hold of Newcastle’s star striker, Liverpool are reportedly growing more confident that they could sign Guehi before the window shuts on Monday. Palace chairman Steve Parish is said to be after £40m, but with the centre-back only having a year left on his contract, it’s possible that the club would accept a bid slightly below that asking price.
The Swedish striker has done severe damage to his relationship with Newcastle this summer, with some sources suggesting he has “broken promises”and many fans angered by his decision to try to force a move. If Slot’s Liverpool don’t manage to get a deal over the line before Monday, he’ll have his work cut out patching things back up.
