- Five-year deal agreed with Casa Pia
- OL beat Lens in low-cost transfer mov
- Ruben Kluivert set for Lyon medical
According to a report from L’Equipe Lyon have reached an agreement to sign Kluivert, the 24-year-old son of former Barcelona and AC Milan striker Patrick, from Portuguese side Casa Pia for just over €3 million. The Dutch centre-back is expected to sign a five-year deal until 2030, becoming OL’s second summer signing after Afonso Moreira.
After narrowly avoiding relegation thanks to a National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG) appeal, Lyon are operating with limited resources in the transfer market. Despite budget constraints, OL are also pursuing Pierre Lees-Melou from Brest as a midfield priority, with talks ongoing over a €5m deal, after wrapping up Kluivert’s signature. Kluivert’s move continues the legacy of his family in French football, his father Patrick ended his career at Lille, while his brother Justin spent a season on loan at Nice.
Lyon reportedly fast-tracked the deal after receiving positive assessments on Kluivert’s pace, passing ability, and physical profile. Ruben started his career at Utrecht and only moved to Portugal in 2024, joining Casa Pia from Dordrecht.
Once Kluivert completes his medical, Lyon will confirm the transfer and look to wrap up their next priority: Lees-Melou from Brest. Manager Paulo Fonseca sees the midfielder as central to his plans.
