Football General Manager
- United interested in Donnarumma
- PSG goalkeeper’s contract expires next summer
- Red Devils hoping to capitalise on contract uncertainty
Per The Telegraph United have begun discussions with PSG over the goalkeeper, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. The French giants are keen to sell the Italy international to avoid a repeat of Kylian Mbappe’s exit, when he left for Real Madrid on a free transfer, and United face serious competition to secure his signature.
Donnarumma is also wanted by Al-Ittihad and Galatasaray, with both clubs offering the goalkeeper a salary of €20 million (£17m/$23m), which equates to a weekly wage of over £330,000. Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to have made enquiries but the latter have signed James Trafford from Burnley.
Andre Onana is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and faces a race against time to be fit for the opening game of the Premier League season against Arsenal on August 17.
United are said to be determined to land a goalkeeper before the season starts and are also interested in Emiliano Martinez at Aston Villa. They play Bournemouth on Wednesday in their next pre-season friendly.
