- Bayern beat Stuttgart in Super Cup
- Kane urges club to sign more players
- "One of smallest squads I’ve played in"
While Luis Diaz, Jonathan Tah, and Tom Bischof have joined Bayern, more than a dozen players have either left permanently or gone out on loan. And following their2-1 German Super Cup win over Stuttgart, England captain Kane has urged the club’s hierarchy to strengthen their squad following a quiet summer of incomings.
He said, via talkSPORT: “It’s probably one of the smallest squads I’ve ever played in. There’s still time until the transfer window closes and decisions could be made by (board member for sport) Max [Eberl], (sporting director)Christoph [Freund] and the coach. We have some young players who have done very well in pre-season. We’re a bit thin, but that’s not in the players’ control.”
After winning the Bundesliga title last season, Kane would have hoped that Bayern would significantly bolster their ranks ahead of the 2025-26 campaign to go for the Champions League. Instead, the likes of Mathys Tel, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane have all left the club. While no vitally important personnel have been sold, they don’t seem to have as much strength in depth this term. If they want to win more trophies, new signings may be urgently needed.
Time is running out for Bayern to strengthen in the transfer market, with the summer window set to slam shut on September 1. Before then, they face RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Friday.
