- Dias puts pen to paper
- Signs four-year contract
- Has won four Premier League titles
The club have confirmed that the Portugal international has signed a new contract until 2029, having spent the last five years at the Etihad. He has won four Premier League titles in that time, as well as the Champions League.
Dias is 28 and remains a key member of City’s squad, although he saw his minutes somewhat limited by calf and hip injuries last season, as he was reduced to just 25 Premier League starts. Nevertheless, he has captained Pep Guardiola’s side on multiple occasions, and is one of the first names on the team sheet when fit.
Dias expressed his delight at inking his fresh deal, saying: “I am incredibly happy today.
“I love Manchester – it is my home now – and I love the Manchester City fans.
“When I think about the trophies we have won and the way we have played our football during my time here, I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.”
The Portugal international has made a total of 223 appearances for the club, and he already has one start under his belt this season, playing 90 minutes as City beat Wolves 4-0 on the opening weekend.
City face Tottenham on Saturday. Dias is almost certain to start.
