- Spurs considering fresh approach for Marc Guehi
- Liverpool remain favourites to sign Palace captain
- Romero future could influence Tottenham‘s next move
Tottenham submitted a late bid for Guehi during the winter transfer window, which was swiftly turned down by Crystal Palace. Since then, Liverpool have entered the picture this summer and are now considered frontrunners for the centre-back amidst Ibrahima Konate’s uncertain future. However, The Telegraph has now reported that Spurs are still monitoring the situation and could yet return with a fresh offer.
Spurs already boast strong depth at centre-back, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin on their books. However, with Romero entering the final two years of his deal and interest coming from Spain, the club may be planning ahead. As such, the potential signing of Guehi could be a strategic move to future-proof the defence or cover potential exits this summer.
Liverpool’s interest in Guehi appears serious, but Palace’s valuation remains high given the defender’s key role and leadership qualities. Guehi, now in the final year of his contract, faces a pivotal decision this summer. Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Bournemouth‘s Illia Zabarnyi, though Paris Saint-Germain are currently leading the race for the Ukrainian.
Tottenham are expected to decide in the coming weeks whether to formally re-enter the race for Guehi. Much will depend on outgoings and how their defensive setup evolves during pre-season. With Liverpool circling, Spurs may need to act quickly if they hope to land the Crystal Palace star.
