- Striker cleared to leave North Wales
- Linked with clubs across the EFL
- No plans to join Becks & Neville project
The veteran striker is expected to secure a move away from SToK Racecourse before the summer window closes. Red Dragons boss Phil Parkinson has said, “I had a good chat with Ollie Palmer. He needs to go and play, he knows that. Ollie has been brilliant for us, a great servant. Of course, he wants to stay and be a part of it. I have always said to him, I’ve got so much respect for what you’ve done in terms of as a player.”
Palmer tumbled down the pecking order in North Wales last season, alongside fellow frontman Paul Mullin, but did net twice off the bench for Wrexham to help them to a thrilling Carabao Cup victory over Hull City on August 12.
That may end up being his last notable contribution to a cause that has delivered three successive promotions, but SportsBoom claim that talk of a switch to Salford being lined up is wide of the mark.
Palmer would have traded Reynolds and McElhenney for Beckham and Gary Neville had he headed to Greater Manchester, with Salford boasting a documentary series of their own that rivals the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ phenomenon.
Several other clubs – including Swindon, Crawley, Bristol Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday – have been linked with 33-year-old Palmer, who remains a proven goalscorer and hard-working option to lead the line in any EFL side.
