- Talks with Angel City, Chelsea FC progressing
- Has six goals in 16 appearances this season
- Has 22 caps for the USWNT
U.S. international Alyssa Thompson is reportedly in talks about a potential transfer from Angel City to Chelsea FC, and will miss the NWSL club’s match against Bay FC on Monday night.
According to journalist Tom Garry, Angel City will excuse the absence as the forward awaits clearance to travel to London. Thompson’s younger sister, Gisele, also plays for Angel City.
Thompson is one of the brightest young stars in the U.S. women’s national team, and she could potentially join American teammates Naomi Girma and Cat Macario at Stamford Bridge. In NWSL, Thompson scored 16 goals in 62 appearances for the club and has three goals for the USWNT.
Thompson made her USWNT debut in London, playing in front of 90,000 fans in Wembley Stadium on Oct. 7, 2022.
The young forward awaits for her move to potentially be finalized. Chelsea’s next two WSL matches are against Manchester City on Sept. 5 and Aston Villa on Sept. 14.
