Isak sent shockwaves through the Premier League by has accusing Newcastle of “breaking promises” amid his bid to join Liverpool in a stunning social media statement released on Tuesday night. The Magpies said they were “disappointed” with his claims and denied making any kind of vow to the Swede, who they insist will remain at the club beyond the end of the transfer window. Now, Toon legend Shearer has said this situation is a “f*cking mess”, while ripping into the 25-year-old’s assertions.
The former England and Newcastle striker told Betfair: “I mean, oh my God, what a f*cking mess his agent has made of this, honestly. If I was him, I’d get his agent in a room and sack him on the spot immediately, because he is meant to be giving him the advice to sign that six‑year deal and there’s no get‑out clause. I mean, it’s ridiculous. And to take anyone’s word in football… it’s nonsensical to say that someone said, ‘Oh, I’ll be able to get out at the end of the season’. Really? I mean, come on.”
Weeks on from making it clear to Newcastle officials that he wants to leave the club, the Sweden international may be no closer to sealing his dream move to Liverpool. The Reds have not returned with a new offer since their reported £120 million ($162m) bid was rejected, though it has been reported they will return with a second bid before the summer window closes on September 1. Isak has vowed never to play for Newcastle again but whether he sticks to that remains to be seen.
It is expected that former Real Sociedad man Isak, who went on strike to force a move earlier this month, will not be in Eddie Howe’s squad when Newcastle face Arne Slot’s Liverpool in a blockbuster Premier League clash at St James’ Park on Monday night.
