- Man City eye move for Man Utd’s Clinton
- In the final year of her contract
- Yet to negotiate new deal with United
With Clinton yet to put pen to paper on a new United contract, City are ready to swoop in and sign the English midfielder before the transfer window closes on September 4, according to The Times. The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils in 2022 but spent the majority of her first two years on loan with Bristol City and Tottenham Hotspur. Clinton finally made her debut for the Women’s Super League giants in 2024 and scored eight league goals in her maiden season at Old Trafford.
Clinton’s impressive performances in club football earned her a call-up to the national team for the European Championship, where she featured in five matches as a substitute and appeared in all three knockout games. To date, she has earned 16 international caps, scoring three goals for the Lionesses.
If Clinton decides to switch clubs this summer, she would miss out on European football action. On Wednesday, United play PSV Eindhoven in a Champions League qualifying game in Stockholm.
Andree Jeglertz’s side kick off their 2025-26 WSL campaign on September 5 against reigning champions Chelsea.
