- Arsenal have reshaped squad this summer
- Brought in attacking reinforcements
- Key forward now stalling on new contract
Mikel Arteta is facing a transfer headache with Leandro Trossard after splashing out heavily to strengthen his attack by signing Gyokeres and Madueke. Trossard is now stalling on a new contract offer from the Gunners as he wants to keep his options open, particularly as the north Londoners continue to be linked with a move for Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, according to the Mirror.
,
Trossard has also attracted interest from elsewhere ahead of the start of the new campaign. Borussia Dortmund are currently monitoring his situation, while he also has two “concrete offers” from Premier League clubs, according to reporter Florian Plettenberg. Trossard’s current contract runs until 2026 but Arsenal have an option to extend it for a further year.
,
Trossard celebrated his 30th birthday in December and, with his contract expiring, it’s entirely possible that Arsenal could sanction a sale. The Belgium international was a regular last season, featuring in all 38 of Arsenal’s Premier League matches, but there’s no doubt that competition for places has ramped up with the arrival of Gyokeres and Madueke.
Arsenal are currently in Asia for their pre-season tour and are back in action on Thursday with a friendly against bitter rivals Tottenham in Hong Kong. Trossard is part of Arsenal’s tour squad but fans will have to wait and see if he’s still with the Gunners by the time the start of the season rolls around.
