- Casado set to be sold to allow Rashford’s registration
- Midfielder has fallen out of favour under Flick
- Could be available for a cut-price fee
Barcelona‘s struggles with registering players are well known and Rashford’s arrival on loan from Manchester United may prove yet another headache for those in charge of the club’s administration. The Blaugrana have pulled various financial levers to bring in new talent and, in order to push through the arrival of the English forward, they may have to make an unpopular sale, as per AS. Casado impressed in his debut seasonu0026nbsp;in the Barcelona first team and was rewarded with a call-up to the national team, but with Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal options in the same position, the midfielder could be sold.
AS reportsu0026nbsp;that Barcelona value the player at €30 million (£26m/$35m), but would be open to negotiations should clubs be interested. Barcelona may even be willing to accept bids worth just half of their initial valuation in order to speed through the transfer. Should they sell home-grown Casado, the club would be able to register Rashford, another signing and even a potential further surprise addition. Selling Casado for so little may anger the fans, but it will allow the club a large degree of space to manoeuvre.
Chelsea were interested in exploring a move for Casado earlier in the window. At the time, Barcelona reportedly set a price tag of €50 million (£43m/$59m) for the La Masia graduate and saw the Blues’ interest diminish. Atletico Madrid were also supposedly in for the young midfielder, too. It remains to be seen if either club will return knowing they can secure Casado’s services for a fraction of the initial valuation.
Casado has not sought a move away from Barca and is seemingly reluctant to leave the club he has supported his whole life. Indeed, he is apparently willing to stay put, even if his playing time is not guaranteed. It does, however, remain to be seen if that ultimately stop the Catalans from proceeding with a sale.
