Football General Manager
- Man Utd ready to match Newcastle’s Sesko offer
- Leipzig rejected Magpies’ initial proposal over payment terms
- Striker deciding between both Premier League projects
It was reported that Newcastle submitted an €80m bid for Sesko, including €5m in add-ons, but Leipzig rejected it due to concerns over the payment structure. Sky Germany has now reported that Manchester United have yet to submit a formal offer, but have made it clear to the Bundesliga side that they are willing to match Newcastle’s bid. Talks have continued with all parties throughout the weekend.
Journalist Ben Jacobs added that Manchester United held discussions with RB Leipzig on Saturday evening and remain in direct contact. The report also added that Newcastle are optimistic their improved structure will get a deal over the line. The Bundesliga side welcome the interest from the Premier League duo, seeing potential for a bidding war to further raise the price for Sesko.
All eyes are now on Sesko, who must decide which project appeals most. If the Slovenian gives the green light, United are expected to table an official offer. A final decision is anticipated soon as the window enters its final stretch.
