- Player injures himself replicating CR7’s celebration
- Scored rebound after penalty save
- Jarred his knee in awkward landing
A Brazilian footballer was brought crushing down to earth after scoring a penalty rebound as he jarred his knee while attempting to replicate Ronaldo’s trademark celebration. Kesley had just equalised for Gremio Prudente but had to be brought off immediately after, having collapsed upon landing.
Kesley isn’t the only player to have emulated Ronaldo’s famous jump. Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund pulled off the celebration in front of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner during a Nations League game between Denmark and Portugal, admitting afterwards Ronaldo has always been one of his idols.
Andros Townsend also whipped out the ‘SIUUU’ after he scored for Everton during a Premier League game at Old Trafford in 2021, claiming it was a “mark of respect” to the former Real Madrid star.
Ronaldo should get back to jumping for joy when Al-Nassr start their 2025-26 Saudi Pro League campaign in August. He has been asking the club to make high-profile additions to their squad during the summer transfer window, with Liverpool‘s Luis Diaz a reported target.
