Football General Manager
- Napoli interested in Sterling
- Englishman has multiple suitors
- A misfit at Chelsea
Per Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are interested in signing Sterling as an alternative to Dan Ndoye, who appears set to move to Nottingham Forest instead of to Naples. As a result, the club are considering alternatives and view the ex-Liverpool man as a viable target, as do Bayer Leverkusen.
Sterling spent last season on loan at Arsenal and made 17 appearances in the Premier League, although he could only contribute two assists. The Gunners opted against signing him permanently, and he could now be set to move to Serie A. At Chelsea, he has played 81 times, but it is unclear where he fits in Enzo Maresca’s squad after they signed Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian this summer.
Sterling has won 82 caps for England but has not played for his country since England’s World Cup quarter-final defeat to France in 2022. With the World Cup taking place in 2026, he may see a route back into Thomsa Tuchel’s squad if he can get back to playing regular first-team football.
Sterling will aim to complete a move away from Chelsea this summer if he is to be at all guaranteed of first-team football next season.
